Gold is vital in World of Warcraft to do most things, buying items, PvP sets, new spells and abilities.  Many people have problems gaining gold because they don’t know where to get it and overlook many simple concepts which will get you gold without much effort.   

Loot everything you get from all monsters, as it can all be sold to vendors within the game.  Only sell things that have a grey name to vendors.  Except for resources such as cloth, cotton and feathers.  These can be sold in the auction house as people use them lots and there is always demand for them.  Items that have a green, blue or purple name can be sold in the auction house for quite a bit of gold depending on their level.   

Remember though, don’t sell all the items, some of them your character will be able to use.  Make sure to check the items before you sell and do not purchase armour from vendors as you will acquire them through questing and killing monsters.

The first thing you should be buying are bags with as many slots as you can afford.  This will save you time going back and forth to sell your looted items, so you can stay out longer farming gold and items.   

When you get to a high level, 50 or above, grinding becomes a lot easier and you can earn up to about 100g an hour.  When you reach level 70 or 80 it becomes possible to earn up to about 200g an hour!   

Another method which a few people have started to do, is to ‘play the auction house’.  This means buying stuff in the auction house that people have priced too low, normally because they don’t realise how much the product is worth or they want a very quick sale.   

It can take a while to get a feel for what is going to sell well and what is actually underpriced.  You can research the auction house for item names and see what they are currently selling for, but until you reach a higher level you wont have enough money worth investing in this.  So by that time you may have a better feel for this anyway.   

A word of warning here as well.  Many of you will of heard of people buying WoW gold for real cash, I’m also sure many of you have been tempted in the past or have actually done it.  All I can say is no, don’t ever purchase gold.  Not only will it defeat the idea of playing the game, but it can also put your account in jeopardy.  If you are caught doing deals with people like this, your account can be banned and you will never get it back, no matter how much you ask.
